Thursday word: crozzled

crozzled (KROZ-uhld) - adj., (North Eng.) blackened or burnt at the edges.

Just past purely crispy and into the barest bit scorched. Like many such dialect words, we have no clue where it came from. Personally, I like the idea of a metaphoric extension into being just a little too tired, in the sense of being mentally crispy-fried, but apparently that sense doesn't exist in the wild.

I like my bacon crozzled and hot.
