How would this be used in a sentence? It doesn't seem like you can
just stick it in any old sentence as a verb... doesn't sound right does
it?

ex: I will posit the plate on the table.
He has positted the journal on the shelf.
How should I posit this?

Are those right? :o

most often i've heard this word used as a synonymn of "suggest" when referring to an idea or theory.

example:

Some psychologist posit that the subconscious can retain memories from as early on as life in the womb.
