Wednesday Word: Zouk

Zouk - a word I accidentally discovered while playing Words with Friends :-D. It's a style of dance music featuring synthesizers, electric guitars, Caribbean rhythms and disco beats.

It is derived from Creole - zouke, sekwe, or zouke - based upon the French verb secouer, which means to shake or agitate. A quick Google will yield plenty of results!

Wow, I am so remembering that for the next time I am playing Scrabble with someone.

I'm going to form a band for this genre and it's going to be called Mark and the Zoukerbergs.

WwF is an excellent source for new vocabulary. I so rarely have both a Z and U at the same time, though.
