Today's fantastic word is one that should be familiar to all night owls.
Lucubration [loo'ku-bray'shun]

From Latin, lucubrare, which stems from lux, meaning light.
John didn't realise how long he had been studying for his up-coming exam. It hit him with a shock when he realised that his 'midnight snack' during his furious late night lucubrations was actually taking place at midday instead!
