Which last word was not chosen at random, because it was coined (in the 1880s) from Latin līmāx, slug or snail, itself derived from līmus, slime.
Gardner's goons shoved me into his office and I finally got a gander at the big guy himself, and while he wasn't Jabba the Hut, he was definitely large and limacene.
