Good Monday, guys! I'm a tad late but us Aussies are ahead of the rest of the world anyway so I doubt anyone noticed. The sheer fact that I'm managing to post at all today is incredible to me, given the amount of assignments due in the next few days! I hope anyone else dealing with the same is handling it well. Anyway, today's word is one of my personal favouorites, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I do <3.

Estiferous
adjective

Pronunciation:
[es-tif-or-us]

Definition:
1. Producing heat.
2. Moving back and forth, ebbing like the tide.

Etymology:
From the Latin æstus meaning "heat" and "tide" and the English -ferous from the Latin fero meaning "I bear/carry."

Notes:
Alternative spelling: Aestiferous.

The second meaning above is gradually becoming obsolete in modern English, but for the sake of learning I've worked both meanings into today's usage below.

Usage:
“Hazel could feel the thief's estiferous breath on her neck contrasting with the cold of the night. It made her shiver and it made her uncomfortable and yet each time he would inhale she would hold her own breath waiting for him to breathe out again, craving the feel of him on her skin. The estiferous pattern was simply torture."
