blandiloquent (blan-DEL-uh-kwent) - adj., mild and smooth-talking, flattering, ingratiating.

Also comes with an obsolete noun form, blandiloquence, meaning flattery. These were borrowed from Latin, where it meant smooth talk. Interestingly bland is cognate with melt and mild, as these are all from the same PIE root -- in Latin, the ml- became bl-.

The blandiloquent preacher was popular with those parishioners who liked to nap on Sundays.
