Well met, neighbours!
It's Wednesday again, which means another installment of Shakespearean Imagination!
England has been knocked out of the Euro Cup - despite having a higher points standing than several of the teams in the semi-finals, blast it all - so I'm afraid my word for the day is:
dishearten : dis·heart·en /dis'härtn/ (verb) : Cause (someone) to lose determination or confidence.
Synonyms: discourage - dispirit - daunt - deject - depress
First seen in Shakespeare's Henry V (written 1598-1599). The full text of the play may be found here.
