Shakespearean Imagination

Neighbours, what cheer?
It's Wednesday again, which means another installment of Shakespearean Imagination!
I closed a successful theatre production on Sunday night, and on Monday night had an audition for what I’d hoped would be my next role. There’s only one character in my age range, and I was hopeful after being asked to do several readings. Late Monday night, I got word that they wanted me – but not for the role I wanted. In fact, I was considered “perfect” for the role of a character 20 years my senior (and the role I had wanted was offered to someone 10 years younger). I spent the remainder of the night – and part of yesterday – battling my own inner demons about the implications of this before graciously accepting the role. And so, with abject humility, I bring you today’s word:
green-eyed : green•eyed /grēnˈīd/ (adjective) :
adjective
-Jealous or unduly suspicious or fearful of being displaced by a rival.
Synonyms: jealous - envious - distrustful - overjealous
First seen in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice (written 1596 - 1597). The full text of the play may be found here.
