God save you, neighbours!

It's Wednesday again, which means another installment of Shakespearean Imagination!

My apologies for missing my scheduled post last week; Livejournal was not cooperating and I was unable to log in until several days later. However, it’s a new year, a fresh slate, and more words!

The post-holiday period, particularly in the Northern Hemisphere, is usually something of a let-down. It’s cold, spring seems a million years away, and all the bills from your holiday celebrations and gift-giving are coming due with alarming rapidity. New Year’s resolutions also generally favour diets, exercise, and moderation, all of which contribute to the general ennui. In honor of that, I give you today’s word:

frugal : fru•gal / ˈfro͞ogəl / (adjective) :

adjective:
-sparing or economical with regard to money or food.
-simple and plain and costing little.

Synonyms: thrifty – economical – sparing – parsimonious – saving

First seen in Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor (written 1600 - 1601). The full text of the play may be found here.
