Another weather term. :-)

Virga: [vur-guh]

Noun:  Precipitation that falls from clouds but evaporates before it hits the ground. Essentially, it's rain that doesn't make it all the way to earth..

Origin: Latin, literally translating into "rod," "streak," "twig," or "branch."



This weather phenomenon has also been observed on Venus (in the form of sulfuric acid), Jupiter, and Mars.
