apomixis (ˌæpəˈmɪksɪs), noun
Reproduction without fertilization.
For example,
parthenogenesis: an unfertilized egg developing into a new individual
parthenocarpy: development of fruit without fertilization or seeds
apogamy: in ferns, forming the sporophyte (spore-producing phase) without merging sperm and ova.
And to round it out, the opposite of apomixis is amphimixis, sexual reproduction.
Etymology: Greek, apo-, away from, separate, + mixis, mingling. (amphi- means 'both').
