whats the relation to "deposit?" when you put "DE" onto a word doesn't it mean to undo it or to do the opposite? but it seems they mean the same thing...

How would this be used in a sentence? It doesn't seem like you can
just stick it in any old sentence as a verb... doesn't sound right does
it?

ex: I will posit the plate on the table.
He has positted the journal on the shelf.
How should I posit this?
