But the first time I saw it used was in "No need to get all maudlin."

Yeah, I think you can say "No need to get all maudlin"

"sentimental" is an adjective too and you can say "no need to get all sentimental" too and it makes sense, so I don't see why you couldn't use "maudlin" in that situation as well.

I dunno, that's how I see it.
