This word has been on Facebook all week but I'm old not hip to the FB jibe.  For those interested, you're supposed to post a picture of a celebrity that looks like you as your profile picture.  I had no idea so many of my friends looked like Lucy Lawless.

Doppelgänger:  A ghostly counterpart of a living person, or a sinister form of bilocation.  Today the term is often used to refer to a lookalike.
German from Doppel (double) and Gänger (goer).

"My friend is a huge fan of Erwin Schrodinger so I can't say I was surprised when he adopted two twin kittens, naming one 'Cat' and its doppelganger 'Same Cat."

Interesting. I was always under the impression that doppleganger meant specifically one's dark double, or evil twin. You learn something new every day!
