Xyresic
adjective

Pronunciation:
[Zy-ress-ik]

Definition:
Sharp as a razor.

Etymology:
The etymology is a little unclear but the most logical deductions bring us these possible routes:

The Greek Xyster, a tool for scraping bone, from Xuein meaning to scrape, make smooth.

There is also the Greek Xiphos, a kind of double-edged short sword.

Usage:
"We may not be able to boast of our xyresic wit but our swords are sharp and dissected men have more to worry about than snarky remarks."

Love Tahlia, colder than a frozen tundra.

Very cool word! Sharp as a razor, I like it. How about this one, I just learned this word the other day: PRISTIQUE...I believe it is an exclamation used by magicians upon completion of a new legerdemain, ie "sleight of hand". I don't know, it's your page I just figured I'd add that as a suggestion for the future as is just rolls off the tongue with a certain finesse. Pristique!

While we're happy to receive suggestions, we typically prefer ones that are real words, which 'pristique' is not.

Apologies, a friend of mine made mention of that word and he apparently mixed up the brand name of an antidepressant drug called "Pristiq" with the fairly well know word prestige, I guess. Sorry, interesting page nonetheless.
