Laconic. From Latin roots (I'm not seeing signs it was used in Latin itself) brevis, short + loquī, to speak.


I like Rev. Mike, but a breviloquent preacher won't go far.

I was eventually able to find it in the online Lewis & Short (the standard Latin-English dictionary), with that citation. I have trouble with the searches, sometimes -- I should have tried harder.
