Good morrow, friends!

It's Wednesday again, which means another installment of Shakespearean Imagination!

As an actor, my schedule can be extremely variable from one day to the next, particularly in the week leading up to opening night. That week, which is colloquially known as “tech week” – or, to many theatre folk, “hell week” – often means long hours, grueling rehearsals, last-minute changes, and infinite aggravation. This season I had the opportunity to take on a number of projects, which has resulted in my being involved in five different projects in four months. As the third project hits its “hell week”, I bring you today’s word, which is quite an accurate description of my life at present:

madcap : mad•cap /ˈmadˌkap/ (adj) :

adjective
-Amusingly eccentric.
-Crazy or reckless.

Synonyms brash - foolhardy - harebrained - heedless - imprudent - incautious - lively - rash - reckless - thoughtless - wild - zany

First seen in Shakespeare's Love’s Labours Lost (written 1594 - 1595). The full text of the play may be found here.

I run madcap at least once a week. Keeps me sane the rest of the time.

As dear Mr Hardwicke once remarked, "I wish there were more eccentrics in the world. I wish I were one." ;)

So bring on the madcapness (is that a word? ;))

Agreed, both re: vocabulary and re: it's time to retire for the night.

Good night and literary dreams to you ;)
